The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train from New Delhi to Srinagar is one of India’s most highly-anticipated infrastructure projects and will be fully operational by late 2026 as per reports. The train will be one of India’s first Vande Bharat with sleeper coaches. In September 2024, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw displayed the prototype, giving us a glimpse of the new rail route connecting the national capital to the capital of Jammu & Kashmir.

It will make halts at major junctions like Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Sangaldan, and Banihal. The train will run on the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project. As per ETNOW.com, Indian Railways also hopes to extend the route to Baramulla.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will depart from New Delhi at 1900 hours (7 PM) and reach its destination at 0800 hours (8 AM) the following morning. The train manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited guarantees a luxurious experience to both business and leisure travelers.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Ticket Prices

Here are the ticket prices for the highly-anticipated Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: 

  • AC 3 Tier: INR 2000
  • AC 2 Tier: INR 2500
  • AC First Class: INR 3000

There will be 16 carriages of these three compartments and will have 823 passenger berths. These flexible prices allow passengers to choose from a range of options, even if you’re looking for a luxurious business trip or traveling with your family and friends.

Key Features Of The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train from New Delhi to Srinagar will halt at limited stops and have an overnight journey. This will save passengers time that usually goes in slower long-distance trains that operate during the day. Additionally, the Indian Railways is aiming to achieve global standards in terms of speed, connectivity, and efficiency of this train.

In terms of the coaches, it will also feature upgraded berths, improved lighting, comfortable seating, and fresh meal options. As well as individual charging points and reading lights, automated doors, and 51 ergonomically designed toilets.

The train will feature an advanced Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system. This will ensure optimal comfort for every passenger. In terms of safety, there will be a dedicated Black Box, Fire Detection System, and HL3 safety compliance.
