Attention, Delhi residents! There’s an exciting new addition to your list of must-try experiences – get ready for the Yamuna Cruise! Yes, you heard it correctly. This eagerly awaited cruise is scheduled to launch on February 20. Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra has announced that only a few technical details remain before the cruise sets off.
The Yamuna Cruise is part of the broader Yamuna Boat Tourism and Ferry Infrastructure Development initiative, aimed at providing recreational boat rides and ferry services along the River Yamuna for both locals and visitors in the National Capital.
This project, situated upstream of the Wazirabad Barrage, stretches between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur. It’s designed to offer a fresh, eco-friendly tourism experience and improve connectivity through sustainable river travel. The estimated budget for this initiative is around INR 20 crores.
By introducing these new river-based activities, the project promises to revitalize recreational options, boost green mobility, and transform Delhi’s tourism scene. According to officials, a trial run is scheduled for either February 16 or 17, while the official cruise launch is set for February 20. The one-hour journey will cover a five-kilometer route between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, providing breathtaking views of the ghats and the surrounding nature.

What To Know About The Yamuna Cruise Vessel
The cruise vessel is designed to accommodate 32 people, including two crew members. The boarding facilities will feature ticket counters, waiting areas, and designated boarding zones. Built by Mumbai’s Inspiration Marine Pvt Ltd, the boat boasts a striking blue hull with a maroon underside. It is complemented by a white superstructure and expansive glass windows on the sides.
It recently arrived in Delhi after being transported from Mumbai and is currently docked at the Sonia Vihar Sports Club. Additionally, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to launch 500 electric buses from Ramlila Maidan on February 8. Stay tuned for more updates!
