Ola Uber Rapido drivers will participate in a nationwide strike to advocate for better working conditions and more reliable income. Drivers are expressing concerns that ride-hailing platforms are overlooking the purpose of new regulations and maintaining control over pricing practices. This has led to inconsistent earnings, pushing many drivers to work excessive hours while grappling with financial difficulties and unstable job security.

TADF also emphasized that these issues also affect passengers, as surge pricing combined with inadequate regulatory measures frequently results in inflated fares. Furthermore, the forum criticized both national and state authorities for the slow response in establishing a minimum base fare.

What Do Ola Uber Rapido Drivers Want

Drivers are calling for the swift implementation of minimum base fares and a prohibition on the use of private vehicles for app-based transport. Their other demands include fair compensation through transparent payment structures, just distribution of work without algorithmic bias, improved safety protocols, accident insurance, and respectful treatment by both platform operators and passengers.

This initiative is being collaboratively organized by the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union, Indian Labour Welfare Federation, All India Transport Union Congress, and several other organizations.
